Snape Maltings

The Maltings are a collection of 19th century buildings, just fifteen minutes walk from 1 Drury Park on the river Alde. Once used to prepare barley for brewing beer, they now house one of the best concert halls in the country. The Aldeburgh Festival holds the majority of its concerts here and a wide variety of performances happen in August. Workshops and specialist weekends throughout the year.

The Maltings also house the Britten Studio, Britten-Pears School and an interesting collection of independent shops and cafes. The Plough and Sail pub offers ales brewed just up the road in Southwold or the Oyster bar gives wonderful views over the reed beds while you're enjoying supper or a drink. River cruises along the estuary towards Iken are available from the quay and are a great way to see the bird life.

A Farmers' Market takes place here once a month on a Saturday. Local produce is also available in the main shop which has a wide selection of kitchen, food, garden and home items. There is a deli and a cafe.
